A TRIBUTE TO LEXI DEMENT:  15 MINUTES AWAY FROM DYING, NOW A STAR

Heeeere's LEXI!  Look at what shelter dogs can do!

Picture
Lexi was rescued from a high-kill shelter in northern Alabama with the assistance of a wonderful woman in California who paid for her vet fees.  We got lost on the way and arrived with only moments to spare: Lexi was being prepped for her injection.  We got her out of there.  She caught the attention of David DeMent of the Amazing Flyin’ K9s, a professional dog Frisbee group in Alabama.  David adopted Lexi and spent countless hours training her—she got to play Frisbee every day!  Under his guidance, she became a confident girl and an expert performer.  She loves her job, loves her new dad, and is fully embracing the life she came so close to losing.  Check her out at www.K9air.com She was also recently on Daytime Alabama:  have a look at the video below!

                     HONORING THOSE WHO
       HAVE CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
BEAUTIFUL RAJA EWING

Picture
Raja Ewing, a beautiful, loving Sheltie, crossed the Rainbow Bridge in October, 2009.  She gave 13 years of joy and unconditional love to her family and all who knew her.  Her passing was difficult for those whose lives she touched so deeply.  To honor her wonderful memory, a donation has been made to Last Chance Dog Rescue Alabama to help insure other dogs have the chance at a remarkable life like Raja’s.  She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.   She remains deep in our hearts, and we look forward to reuniting at the Rainbow Bridge.

The Stunning Loss of Little Sable

Picture
We rescued beautiful Sable in May, 2010.  She was abandoned at a landfill near Calera, AL and was approximately 4 months old.  Of course we had her fully vetted immediately, and then had the joy of living with her until August, when she was adopted by a wonderful family who had two boys who cherished her.  Sable was full of life---she kept all the older dogs here at our rescue on their toes, to say the least.  She was precious, and so our hearts broke when we learned she died in early October, 2010.  The reported cause of death was distemper, which is puzzling given she’d been vaccinated against that horrible disease.  We still don’t understand her loss, it is extremely difficult to bear. This is a girl who will live in our hearts forever.  Our spunky, funny, mischievous Sable awaits us at the Rainbow Bridge.  We love you, Sable.

Ivy, a Regal Lady Who Lived Long and Loved Well

Picture
Ivy, loved long and well for 15 years.  Though her loss will ever linger, the memories she made with Kay and Scott will be held close, treasured, and age as gracefully as Ivy did.
